New York Knicks Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Wolves: 112 Knicks: 103
Kevin Love's 31 rebounds and 31 points Friday night marked the first time since 1982 that an NBA player recorded at least thirty boards and thirty points in the same game. For some perspective on this accomplishment, here are some fun facts about 1982:
*Dwayne Wade, Gilbert Arenas and angry Met's closer Franciso Rodriguez are all born in January.*Over 100,000 people attend the World's Fair opening in Knoxville, TN.
*The first ever execution by lethal injection is carried out in Texas.*Michael Jackson releases the biggest selling album of all time, Thriller
*For the first time ever, Time Magazine presents it's Man of the Year Award to a non-human, the computer.*Cal Ripken Jr. plays his first game in a streak that would eventually become a record for most consecutive baseball games played.
*Moses Malone wins the NBA's MVP award.*Ronald Reagan gives his first ever State of the Union address.
Wow. What more can you say other than cheers to Love!
Another Game We Didn't Watch This Weekend:
Los Angeles Lakers Vs. Phoenix Suns
Lakers: 116 Suns: 121
Perhaps the Suns have created a blueprint for how to beat this current Laker powerhouse: Make sure to have one of your players shoot seven of ten from behind the arc so that as a team you can collectively drop 22 triples, the second most against the Lakers in the history of their franchise. Simple enough, right? I'm sure Steve Kerr sent out a mass text message which read, "Fuck yeah, bitches" to anyone who criticized him when he traded for J Rich while he was watching the sharpshooter play as if the third and fourth grade boys that I ref on Saturday mornings at the local middle school were covering him last night. In handing Los Angeles its second loss of the season, Phoenix proved that maybe it's early yet to crown Mamba and Friends as the guaranteed winners of the Western Conference.
